Our Story
Every child deserves a chance to play, learn, and grow through sports. It all started with this simple belief and an email sent on a Tuesday afternoon in March 2022. What began as one student's vision to make youth sports accessible has grown into MYSI - a movement breaking down barriers across Michigan.

Founder,
Lucas Solomon:
I still remember my parents lacing up my skates, the early mornings in the brisk rink air, and the rush of adrenaline before every game. Hockey wasn't just a sport to me – it was where I found confidence, built lifelong friendships, and discovered my sense of purpose. But one day, sitting in a University of Michigan classroom, my professor in Soc102: The Sociology of Sport, shared a statistic that stopped me in my tracks: the pay-to-play model prevents a staggering number of kids from accessing organized sports.
In that classroom, I thought about all the kids who would never know the thrill of scoring their first goal, the pride of being part of a team, or the lessons that extend far beyond the game – about resilience, leadership, and believing in yourself. That realization hit hard. I couldn't shake the feeling that something had to change.
So I got to work.
MYSI wasn't born out of a business plan or a boardroom – it was born out of a belief that every child deserves a chance to play. It started with a simple idea: remove the financial barriers, give kids a team, and watch them thrive. What began with just a few teams soon grew into something bigger – a movement to ensure that no child is left on the sidelines.
Because sports are more than just a game. They shape us. They empower us. And every child deserves that chance.
What We Do
We do more than put kids on the field, we work to remove every barrier standing in their way. Through mentorship, coaching, and access to high-quality equipment and facilities, we make sure every child has the tools they need to succeed. Cost should never be a reason a child misses out, which is why we fully cover all pay-to-play expenses. From the moment they step onto the field to the friendships they build and the confidence they gain, we create seamless, memorable experiences that shape them far beyond the final whistle.
Why We Do It
We believe sports have the power to change lives. They teach resilience, build character, and offer a positive outlet for kids to push their limits, connect with others, and feel a sense of belonging. But for too many children, access to organized sports is a privilege they can't afford. We're here to change that and ensure every child, regardless of background, has the chance to experience the joy and lessons of the game.

Founded and operated by passionate University of Michigan students, MYSI brings together the energy of college students and the needs of our local community. Our team leverages the resources and network of one of the nation's top universities to create meaningful change in youth sports accessibility.
Local Community Focus
We're proud to serve communities throughout Michigan, with a special focus on the Ann Arbor and Metro Detroit areas. By partnering with local schools, community centers, and sports organizations, we're creating opportunities for youth right here in our backyard.
